Brook of Life Care is fully operational and taking extra precautions to keep people safe.
During the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic we are operating a normal service, our office is open and ready to support new and existing clients who need care and support in their homes.
The safety and wellbeing of the people we care for, and our staff is of paramount importance. That is why our staff receive comprehensive training in infection control and follow the industry guidance from the National Institute for Health Protection and the NHS. Our Carers and Support workers are working very hard to minimise the risk of transmission by implementing safe working practices such as handwashing. We have also implemented several extra steps in accordance with the latest expert advice, including ensuring all our care workers have and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as masks, eyewear, aprons, and gloves.
Brook of Life Care takes practical measures such as:
Adequate ventilation in our offices and we also encourage our clients to ensure adequate ventilation in their homes.
- Natural ventilation- fresh air comes in through open windows, doors, or air vents. This is also known as ‘passive airflow.
Mechanical ventilation- fans and ducts bring in fresh air from outside. - Adequate ventilation reduces how much virus is in the air. It helps reduce the risk from aerosol transmission. Aerosol transmission can happen when someone breathes in small particles in the air (aerosols) after a person with the virus has been in the same enclosed area.
Ventilation is not the only way of minimising the spread of Covid, we also encourage
Clean and washing of hands frequently
Coronavirus can transfer from people to surfaces. It can be passed on to others who touch the same surfaces. Keeping our offices, client homes clean and frequent handwashing reduces the spread of the coronavirus. Our staff and clients are encouraged to:
- Wash hands with soap and running water.
- Use hand sanitiser if unable to wash hands
Clean with soap or Disinfect surfaces that are in constant use such as:
- Worktops, door handles, windows, computer keyboards, printers, touch screens, monitors, and phones, taps, kettles, water heaters, fridges, microwaves and cupboards
